In a student poll conducted by the Morton Pony Express News, Takis was named Best Snack of 2025.
In a random survey of 100 Morton East students, 31, or 31%, selected Takis as the best of last year. Coming in 2nd place was Chips Ahoy with 20 votes; 3rd place went to Hot Cheetos with 19 votes. While not winning, a number of students voted for Sour Patch. Recognition also goes to Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, which students said was the worst snack of 2025. According to Google AI Overview, the winner, Takis, was introduced in early 2025, offering a cheesy-hot experience and a milder, global chili-lime flavor, respectively, expanding options beyond hardcore spice levels. As well as the Wendy’s collaboration, a major 2025 event was teaming up with Wendy’s for a limited-edition menu featuring the Takis Fuego Meal. Takis are part of a larger 2025 trend seeing consumers crave intense, internationally inspired flavors, with spicy lime being particularly sought after.
“Yeah, Takis were the best because they had the most powder and have the best taste,” said senior Jonathan Perez.
Many other students agree with Takis being the best snack of 2025.
“I agree because I used to sell Takis, and many students would buy,” said senior Cesar Organista.
Other students partially agree with Takis being the best snack.
“They’re good chips. I personally feel like Hot Fries are better; they’re spicier,” said senior Rodney Simpson.
Another student agrees.
“I agree because I like spicy chips. I like Dinamita. I feel like since I like spicy chips, those are my favorite,” said senior Priscilla Ramos.
Close behind the winner was Reese, which also received strong support from students and staff.
“Horrible take, big on chocolate. I like sour candy, like the Sour Strips from Target,” said staff member Damian Jimenez.
