Most students say they are ready to graduate.
Out of 10 students surveyed, 9 said they feel prepared to finish high school. However, national data suggests a different perspective. According to Google AI, a significant majority of students do not feel fully prepared for life after high school. Approximately 72% of recent graduates report feeling only moderately, slightly, or not at all prepared for their next steps.
“I’m ready to graduate because I don’t really like school, and it’s my last year. I’m ready to finish and start making more money,” said senior David Medina.
Teachers say that while many students feel ready, not all are truly prepared for what comes next.
“Yeah, I think some seniors should be ready for life after graduating, at least in terms of basic responsibilities like managing their time, finding a job, or continuing their education,” one teacher said.
Overall, while most students express confidence about graduating, there is still a gap between feeling ready and actually being prepared for life after high school.
