In a student poll conducted by the Morton Pony Express News, DtMF was named Best Song of 2025.
According to Google AI Overview, DtMF by Bad Bunny was one of 2025’s biggest global hits, becoming a defining track of the year. The song dominated streaming platforms, earning more than a billion streams in just weeks after its release. In a random survey of 109 Morton East students, DtMF was the winner and stood out because it combines cultural impact, emotional depth, and real relevance to high school students.
“It appeals to many students here because it is a Latin song and represents emotional disconnections from being forced to leave Puerto Rico,” said sophomore Ricardo Mendoza.
Others relate to the song on a personal level.
“It expresses the feeling of having to let go or leave from somewhere you love and regret not taking more pictures when you had the chance,” said junior Alexa Xaves.
“I feel like the song Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar is better for song of the year because the lyrics really mean something,” said senior Yoel Duran.
