In a student poll conducted by the Morton Pony Express News, Spotify was named best Music Streaming App of 2025.
According to Google AI’s Overview, currently, as of early 2026, Spotify consists of over 713 million active monthly users. Approximately 281 millions of those 713 million uses pay for “premium” subscriptions across more than 180 markets across the globe.
According to an Article by the Consumer News and Business Channel, Spotify, which was first introduced in 2008 was established as a way to allow listeners to stream their favorite songs and still compensate artists for their original pieces.
According to an Article titled Spotify’s Rise to Global Dominance in Music Streaming, as 2023 came to an end, Spotify had over 600 million active monthly users demonstrating its huge global presence. Since Spotify uses advanced machines to curate personalized playlists, for example, its “Discovered Weekly” feature enhances user experience and music discovery.
In a random survey of 100 Morton East students, 46% of students reported that Spotify is the best music streaming app of 2025.
“The best music streaming app of 2025 is Spotify because since I have premium, I don’t get any ads. It’s very convenient because I also get to skip songs and rewind songs without any interruptions,” said senior Antonio Camarillo.
It seems Spotify is Morton East’s best music streaming app even with only one minor setback being ads.
“Spotify because its free and when I get ad’s I close the app” said Said Morton East Security guard Sam.
Even with ads being the only downside to using Spotify, they are easy to get rid of and therefore makes Spotify even more convenient regardless of whether or not users have a premium subscription. However, there are others who on the contrary, believe that Spotify is not the best music streaming app.
“YouTube Music because since I have my college account I get a discount,” said Morton East Security guard Damian Jimenez.
While Spotify earned first place, Apple Music finished second in the poll.
Not all staff members or students for that matter agree that Spotify is the best music streaming app of 2025. Some students said they preferred other options instead of the top winner.
Several additional options were mentioned by students during the survey such as Apple Music, Musi, and YouTube Music.
