Bridget Michau works as a Graphic Arts Teacher at Morton East High School, where she has been employed for 8 years. Ms. Michau has taught many students topics related to Graphic Art by showing them how they can use their creativity to create items like mugs, keychains, buttons, calendars, etc.
Here’s what she had to say about her job:
Q: What do you enjoy most about your work?
A: “The kids. I love my students. I like when we can create something really creative and beautiful and print it out and make it, and then we’re all excited about it—and they learn how to do all of those things.”
Q: What do you want people to know about this job?
A: “Well, in Graphic Arts particularly, we do all the print jobs for the school, so I’m doing all the billing, all the cutting, all the printing, layouts, all the posters.”
Q: What’s the most challenging part of your job?
A: “When students didn’t really sign up for my class and they just got put in there—or like, they picked it and they don’t like computers.”
Q: If someone wanted to do what you do, what would be their first step after high school?
A: “I would say get your associate’s first. Get that out of the way because it’s a more less pricey way to get education. That’s how I know, but maybe if you get scholarships or something for a four-year, then you can get a four-year degree. I think you can get it in teaching, like arts.”
