Morton East’s K-Star Dance Group recently performed a K-pop dance routine at the West Suburban Conference Diversity Show at Addison Trail High School on April 15.

K-Star performed “Super” by Seventeen, a well-known K-Pop (Korean Pop) music group.  East’s K-Star Dance Club focuses on all things Korean Pop Music and Dance.  The following students were involved in the performance: senior Angel Sandoval, senior Paulina Alvarez, junior Briseyda Sida-Morales, junior Melody Perez, sophomore Maria Tinoco, sophomore Jordan Carrasco, sophomore Lucas Mendoza, sophomore Camila Gomez, and freshman Monserrat Chavez.

“They worked for months on this dance, and you (could) definitely see that through their performance,” said Ms. Nereida Rodriguez, club sponsor.

About a dozen other schools’ dance groups performed at the Diversity Show, each showcasing a different style of song and dance.  Other performances included Mexican Huapango, Philippine Tinikling, Indian Bollywood Dance and more.  No awards were given to students as this was a non-competitive exhibition of dance talent.

“This show wanted to celebrate and recognize diversity and foster an environment of inclusion and belonging,” said Ms. Rodriguez.
