Senior Kamilah Basurto talks about her journey in makeup.

According to Chat GPT, teens use makeup as a confidence booster in order to make themselves look better, and peer influence can also be a significant factor among youth nowadays, as people mostly judge you based on looks today. Makeup can also be a restriction for some girls, as allergies to certain types or brands of makeup prevent girls from using some or all types of makeup, since it could be dangerous for them. Along with a pretty face and killer eyes, makeup can be damaging to the skin. A skincare routine is recommended by experts to maintain a naturally good-looking face and to avoid severe acne and skin issues. Even though makeup is seen as a confidence booster, some people choose not to wear makeup. In a survey of 10 Morton students, 90% said they used makeup, and 10% said they don’t wear makeup.

“I wanted to try something new. The more I practiced, the better I got,” Senior Kamilah Basurto once said.

Morton’s students consider that over the years of doing their makeup, they’ve gotten better.

“I’ve gotten better at makeup by practicing more,” Senior Viviana Franco said.
