In a student poll conducted by Morton Pony Express News, the Chicago Bears were named Best Team of 2025.
In a random survey of 121 Morton East students, 42.2% said the winner stood out because the Bears had many losing seasons for years, and this year, with new management and new players, they turned things around and surprised the whole NFL with their recent performances.
“The comeback the Bears have done and the rebuild of their teams — there were many seasons where the Bears would just fail and fail, but this season all I see from the Bears is greatness,” said Alexander Barrera, a sophomore.
Together, these opinions show how the Bears’ perseverance and ability to perform under pressure have transformed the team from years of failure into a season deserving recognition and respect.
“It’s amazing that the Bears are number 1 due to them being able to shine when it comes to coming back when it comes to crucial games, and it’s about time the Bears get their flowers,” said Imanol Salazar, a junior.
These comments emphasize that the Bears’ success this season has not only come from strong performances at crucial moments but also from the support and confidence of their fans.
“Of course, the Bears would have been number 1 in the best team of 2025 because most students are Bears fans, and with their recent performance this season, that can reinforce the reason as to why they won the best team to watch in 2025,” said Isaiah Martinez, a senior.
While many students believe the Bears have earned their top ranking through strong performances and fan support, others remain skeptical, arguing that the team must show consistency and prove themselves against more experienced opponents.
“Not all students agree that the Bears might be good this season, and I am one of them because I believe that they haven’t proven themselves yet due to them lacking experience to big teams and them only shining on comebacks when they should be shining the whole game, so this is why I believe they need to prove themselves more,” said Carlos Garcia, a senior.
Although some remain doubtful about the Bears’ consistency and experience against stronger opponents, others find the team’s dramatic comebacks exciting and believe this style of play draws in both dedicated fans and casual viewers alike.
“What makes it exciting is that they are winning in an exciting way. Having a last-quarter comeback against rivals is something that will bring excitement to sports fans and those who don’t really watch sports,” said Eduardo Marentes, PE teacher.
