Students are unleashing their creativity by participating in school spirit week.
According to Google’s AI Overview, students showcase creativity through various means, from designing unique outfits for themed days. More locally and most recently in a random survey of 100 Morton East students, 86% said they participated in the Morton spirit week dressing. Therefore, students get to express their creativity during school when there is a dress code on regular days of school. As a result, it is seen that students who dress up during spirit week tend to pay more attention since they are comfortable with what they are wearing. As a result, it is seen that students’ work increases during spirit week. furthermore, it was seen more students dressed up on pajama and sprit wear days more than every other day. Which implies students really enjoyed specific theme days and got to express their creativity more than they do or regular days.
“It was a hassle to dress code students because they would wear hats and inappropriate clothes, and I and the rest of security would have to write them up,” security guard Martin Suarez said.
Even with stricter enforcement, students’ outfits remained largely unchanged.
“It was better than previous years, but days were repetitive—like everyone would still wear around the same type of clothes or pajamas they wore the other day,” senior Santania Brown said.
While some students felt that spirit week lacked variety, others appreciated the opportunity it provided for self-expression.
“Spirit week was cool, especially my first year at Morton East, and I was able to express myself through my outfits and not have to wear a uniform,” sophomore Herber Flores said.
While some students embraced the opportunity to fully participate in spirit week, others chose to express themselves in their own unique way.
“I really just showed up and dressed up how I would dress up when I would go out to parties or out with family, so I didn’t really follow the themes because I didn’t like them,” junior Angel Cruz said.
Similarly, other students also chose not to participate in the theme days for their own reasons.
“No me disfracé ninguno de los días porque no tenía nada que ponerme que se pareciera al tema del día,” senior Alexis Cazares said.

I really liked all the information and quotes that was put in here because it shows how students really felt about spirit week and having to dress up and wear regular clothe, one thing that would of been better is putting a caption in your picture.

I like the photo you took of all the students dressed up lol. My little sister is in the picture dressed like a guy with the black hoodie. I think it would have been better if you would have added a caption below the photo.
