Morton East has been around for 130 years, and students and teachers think there seem to be ghosts floating around Morton East—people who died here.
In a random survey of 100 students, 60% of them believe there are ghosts here.
Theater teacher Mr. Tyler Lubinus has been working for 6 years at Morton East.
“I’ve never had an experience outside of the real world with ghosts, but I heard a voice coming from the auditorium backstage, thinking it was a student, but when I went to go check, there was nobody there,” said Mr. Lubinus

Many that believe there are ghosts aren’t just teachers but also students.
“I do believe there are ghosts. Every time I go to the basement for gym, I get a sense of energy like I’m being watched or something. It’s really creepy.” said junior student Mayrin Lopez.
A senior who’s been here for 3 years also thinks there are ghosts.
“Yes, I do believe there are ghosts in this school. My sophomore year, I went to this random room downstairs in the basement on accident because I was lost, and I don’t know—the energy felt weird. My brother has told me stories from when he was here, and I do believe there are multiple ghosts here,” said senior student Jarelly Munoz.

Although there are many people who believe there are ghosts at Morton East, others seem to believe there are not.
“No, I don’t think there are ghosts in this school. Well, I haven’t heard anything so far, but I also don’t believe in ghosts,” said sophomore student Riley Magallanes.
According to a Google search, “There are two ghosts floating around through the school in the auditorium from the spirits of Mr. Drew, who died opening night, and of a student named Richard L. Jagmin, who drowned in the school pool in 1969, which is now a supervision room, Room 115.”
Whether these stories are real or just rumors one thing is certain, Morton East’s history continues to intrigue and maybe even haunt those who walk its halls.
