Most students say they already have plans for the summer.
In a recent quick survey of 10 Morton East students, six said they have plans for the summer and four said they do not. Many students say that they are excited for summer and are already making plans for jobs, vacations, or relaxing after the school year. According to Google AI Overview, students often begin thinking more about summer as the school year gets closer to ending. And, as for seniors, 78% of seniors are reported to experience senioritis their last year of high school as summer and graduation approaches.
“I’m going to try to get a job in the plumbing area,” said senior Jesus Zenteno.
Teachers say students lose focus near the end of the school year as summer approaches.
“I think students get burnt out at the end of the year, and it’s hard to stay locked in!” said English teacher Ms. Arianna Duvvuri.
