Most students prefer working on classwork alone.
In a recent survey of 10 Morton East students, 6 said they prefer working alone and 4 said they prefer group work. According to Google’s AI overview, many students prefer working alone as they are able to work freely without having to schedule a time to meet up, avoid social interaction, and avoid freeloaders. Students are more inclined to group work if they are able to choose their own team members.
“I prefer working with a group because with a group it’s more thoughts being put together instead of just one,” said sophomore Ashley Valencia.
While some students prefer group work, some staff members may have a different opinion.
“I think it depends on the student, but I would say independent work is better because a student can be held more accountable for their work instead of sitting back and letting their group members do all the work,” said counselor Brian Hagen.
