In a recent survey of Morton East students, 34 out of 104 students said that the most overrated trend of 2025 was “67.”
Many students said they kept hearing it every day at school and online, which made it get annoying really fast. Some students also said that people only used the trend because everyone else was doing it, not because it was actually funny. Students from Morton East mention that TikTok and other apps are the main reason the trend spread so much, even though many people didn’t really like it.
“I think because it was going viral on TikTok and other social media, people keep repeating it and saying it on a daily basis,” said Ashley Vela, a senior.
Some students said the phrase became annoying over time, which is why they felt it didn’t deserve all the attention it got.
“Because it’s all over the internet and it’s something that got kind of annoying,” said Andrew Molina, a sophomore.
Teachers also shared their opinions about the trend. One teacher thought a different trend would end up being the most overrated.
“I felt like Italian brain rot was going to be the top one with the most votes,” said Mr. V.
Another teacher said it was obvious that “67” would be voted the most overrated because students say it constantly at school.
“I knew straight up that ‘67’ was going to be the top one since everybody says it,” said Ms. Gutheim.
Even though other trends were mentioned in the poll, many students agreed that “67” was heard too often, which is why it was voted the most overrated trend of 2025.
