Desteny Alvarado, a senior at Morton East, is going to veterinary school after graduation.
According to St. George University’s, “The Ultimate List of Veterinary Specialists Who Care for Animals,” there are 22 types of veterinary specialties. In the veterinary field itself, it reveals that there’s more to working on animals than simple check-ups. Specialties like anesthesia and dentistry are only the beginning. On a random survey of 15 Morton East graduate students, only one of them would also be interested in going to vet school.
"I love animals more than people. And, you see sick and mistreated animals all the time on social media. I look forward to helping them get better," Desteny Alvarado said.
