In a classroom survey, many students and teachers said they have experienced relationships with red flags.

Several people shared that cheating was a major warning sign, while others mentioned partners who were always online but did not respond to messages. One student said their partner was older, which felt like a red flag.

“Omg yes, I would always see red flags in this one guy. He had an SRT and was older and always would hit me up after 11 p.m., but I eventually ghosted him and dropped him,” Emily said.

Another red flag that people saw was that they would be online but not text back.

“Yes, I remember they would always be online and not respond and would drag too, but never again. I ghosted them,” an anonymous student said.

Now a strange red flag that someone mentioned was being nice to them but mean to other people.

“Yes, of course I had someone with a red flag. Yes, I once was dating someone who was nice to me and mean to others. Cute at first but got out of hand, so I ghosted him,” Ms. Lopez said.

Another red flag that was mentioned a lot was being friendly.

“Yes, I had a girlfriend, and in my opinion, she was way too friendly. She also had many guy friends whom she would hang out with a lot. I just broke up with her because I know if it was the other way around, it would cause an argument and she would break up with me,” an anonymous student said.

One final red flag that we heard a lot was going out and partying. I wonder what it is about going to those parties and why couples start arguments when their partner is going and having fun.

“Yes, I have talked to someone with red flags. She would always be out and be at parties, and people be wilding out there,” Jessy Mena said.
