Now is the time to start thinking about prom.
According to the prom coordinator, Angel Samata, Prom will be on Thursday, May 22. It will take place at Donald E. Stephens Convention Center from 6:30pm-11:00pm. Tickets will be available for purchase in April 2025, with prices expected to be around $100 each. The majority of the budget goes towards the venue, dinner, snacks, decorations, and more. Traditionally, there will be lots of food and music. Lastly, there is no strict dress code and students are not expected to dress in theme.
“I think what makes the perfect prom experience is having a good time with people you love. As in your lover and friends. For me I’d like to have a great time with my girlfriend and mutual friends. With good fun music and having a great night. I want it to be a night I can remember for the rest of my life and later on in life encourage my kids to go to their own prom,” said senior Andrew Arteaga.
Building on this idea of unforgettable experiences, others agree that the true value of prom lies in the moments shared with those closest to you.
“What I hope to remember most about my prom night is the fun I will have and the people that will make that night memorable. To be able to look back at that night as a core memory or even as something that is a one in a lifetime opportunity and that has to be lived in the moment but still be able to remember and re-live it through those memories,” said senior Kimberly Arellano.
In a similar way, another student reflects on what ultimately led them to attend prom.
“What made me decide to go to prom was the fact that I would only be able to experience it once in a lifetime and wouldn’t want to lose that opportunity. I know that if I decide not to go I would later on regret it, so I’m taking my sister with me and wish to have a fun time,” said senior Maria Bustos.
For many, the excitement of prom extends beyond the decision to attend, with students already planning the perfect look for the occasion.
“I have started looking into dresses for this year’s prom. I am mainly looking for something like navy blue because it’s only my junior year and I don’t want to go all out until next year. I chose more of a navy blue because it matches my skin undertone more and makes me stand out but not too much because pink would be too light and will blend into my skin color because of how light complexed I am and green is too bold of a color for me personally to wear and because then again it is only my junior year prom,” said junior Jazelle Galvez.
While some students are already narrowing down their choices, others are still in the process of deciding what would be the perfect fit for prom.
“No, I haven’t started planning my outfit. I am so Indecisive and want to make sure I get the most perfect dress this year. A dress that matches my skin tone and is unique but also comfortable to last me all night. My favorite color is pink, and I would want it that color but since everyone wears that color, I want to pick a different color that suits me,” said senior Maria Bustos.
As students continue to look for options, some are still not sure about the final choice for their prom attire.
“I have kind of been looking at some dress options but I’m still not quite sure or set on a specific dress. To follow with that I am looking for something cute, elegant in a way, comfortable, but still eye catching,” said senior Kimberly Arellano.
While some students are still looking and deciding what they want their prom fit to be, others already have a specific vision in mind for their prom look.
“My dream outfit for prom would be a long tight dress, I don’t know what color yet but I want it open from the back and very elegant and extra, with heels, a purse and jewelry,” said senior Jade Vasquez.
While some students are still perfecting their prom looks, others are already looking forward to the experience itself.
“I feel really good about celebrating prom, especially since I’m going to go to this years and next year’s so I could get both perspectives of what it’s like both years. I could see what they do in different years so I can’t wait,” said junior Yeimi Mercado.
