Andrea Virto
Andrea Virto is a 17-year-old senior on the cross-country team for Morton.
According to NCTV17 “Going the Distance with Cross Country Fast Facts”, originally cross-country first began as a competitive sport in England in the early 1800s. Also, the first-ever cross-country state meet was in 1979. Usually, a regular high school race can go up to 3.1 miles, and the best score you can get in a race is 15. In a random survey of 10 students, only one out of the ten students said that cross-country is their favorite sport.
“In cross-country, there’s really no individual wins, it’s really which school has the better timings,” Andrea Virto senior classmate said.
