Morton boys varsity basketball is off to a good start with twice as many wins than losses this year.
The Morton basketball team meets Mondays through Saturdays at Morton East High School’s main gym. The team has approximately 18 members, and the purpose of the group is to win. This sport matters to the school community because it shows students about teamwork and dedication. Last year, the basketball team had a record of 7–23. As to this year, the team’s current record is 5–2.
“Play hard and lock in. Make sure to do free throws because they are important,” said Coach Eric Kraft.
Students involved in the basketball team discussed what the sport means to them.
“At the end of the day the day ends,” said point guard Alfredo Macias. “Hard work always beats talent, when talent fails to work hard. You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great,” he added.
