The worst apps of the year according to Morton students span in range from Instagram to Snapchat.

Instagram is the worst app of 2021, survey says. In a random 51 students, Instagram was selected as their least preferred app out of Snapchat, Facebook, Messages, and Tik-Tok. The most popular best-liked app was messages.

Instagram is an American created app for video and photo sharing founded by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. App users can upload media edited with filters, organized by hashtags, and tagged geographically. There are privacy options such as allowing your profile to be public or pre approve followers. Users can view other users profiles and and view trending content. They can also “like” photos and videos and “follow” others to add their content on their newsfeed. Its initial release was on October 6, 2010 and has since then grown a lot. In April, 2012 Facebook Inc. bought it for around $1 billion in cash and stock. With 1.386 billion users worldwide and 31% teen/young adult users between the age of 18-21.  And 8% of users being 13-17. It’s clear Instagram is most popular amongst young adults and teenagers.

The remaining results of the survey concluded that Snapchat is the second worst app, Facebook and Tik-Tok tied for the third worst, and Messages was the most liked overall.
