Memories: What Every Senior was looking forward to other than Graduation.

On March 13th, 2020, no senior expected it to be their last day of high school. Every senior was getting ready for the best part of senior year, but no one thought it was going to end in this tragic way.

Requirements to Even Graduate. As we get closer to graduation, they are requirements set for seniors to graduate on time and be able to attend senior activities, first of the requirements to graduate is you must be passing all your classes with at least a D or higher. The second requirement would be you must have 20 credits or more, while most classes are worth .5 credit per semester or 1.0 per year. The subjects that are required to take are English, Maths, Science, Civics, P.E, and Modern Language.

Cap and Gown. While every senior graduate had to pay $60 fee to cover expenses many thought it would just cover the cap and gowns, but it was for much more like graduation tickets, diplomas, and other senior activities. But had to be paid before you could purchase any prom or senior breakfast tickets. `

Senior Activities. While everyone was looking forward to the senior activities there were some standards that had to be met such as, every senior was looking forward to attending their very first and last prom, senior breakfast, grad night, senior ditch day, senior picnic, and while all of these came to a sad end when our governor J.B. Pritzker gave the order for all schools to close due to the safety concern regarding COVID-19, as of today what we know for the dates for prom and graduation will be either July or in August.

Graduation. The graduation ceremony was scheduled to take place Saturday, May 23, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. while all graduates were required to be checked in the parking garage near Gate 3 no later than 9:00 a.m. and tickets were required for entry. It seemed like a straightforward procedure but as we all seen Covid-19 changed all that and postponed that date and as of now Morton has reserved August 3,4,5 and 6 at UIC as alternate dates for commencement. They have reserved four dates in case they have to separate the graduation class because keeping in mind we have over 1,000 students but as of right now nothing is confirmed and to stay updated follow Morton 201 District on Facebook, Twitter, or on their website. Morton 201 expects to make a decision on June 6th.
