How many absences do you need do be dropped from a class?

Jose Macias and Kevyn Sanchez

This depends on the students.

According to Miss Best, assistant principal,  “Students are flagged for attendance after they miss 4 days of school. At this time support staff begin attendance interventions with the student and the family.  A student is considered chronically truant by the state of IL after missing 10 days. There is not a precise answer to your question because our support staff treat all of our students as unique individuals, with all sorts of needs and different levels of coping skills. A person’s Mental health, environmental factors, and resilience is not something that can be put in a neat package. Morton East wants to help bring out the very best in every student, we believe to do this we need to treat everyone as a unique person.”
