Chicago is Illinois’ most haunted city

Jesus Diaz, Marlene Sanchez, and Nick Cardoso

Chicago may be known for its amazing architecture. However, many people do not know that it’s also known for having Illinois most haunted spots.

For example, the congress hotel opened in 1893 for the World’s Colombian Exposition — which means it’s had 125 years to acquire a bevy of ghosts. Among the ghouls is said to be Chicago gangster Al Capone, Karel Langer, a child who goes along the hotel’s halls, and Peg Leg Johnny, who will flick your light switches to spook you, according to WBEZ. To add on, the John Hancock center’s seen several deaths and a Church of Satan founder wrote that its trapezoidal shape made for a “brooding spectacle” based on Chicago’s Haunting Tour. The Iroquois Theater was supposed to be “fireproof”, but in 1903 a fire there killed more than 600 people. It remains the deadliest single-building fire in United States history, and though the Iroquois Theater was razed (it’s now the spot of the Oriental Theater) many report seeing odd, shadowy figures or capturing ghosts in photos while in the theater or in the nearby “Alley of Death”, says DNA info. In a random survey of 100 Morton East students, 78 % (78 students) reported that they would like to go to a haunted spot.

It’s not necessary to go to a haunted spot when your own school is haunted.

I do hear like noises and stuff and I have to stop and look, and I do not like going to the 3rd floor or the 4th floor at night, but if I’m walking by the auditorium girl that’s scary. So yes, I believe in ghost, and I’ve felt haunted– Morton East Security Ebony said.

Some experienced it elsewhere

ghosts are realI saw em when I was a little kidour house was haunted” – Morton East assistant principal MrBorgart said

There are mixed perspectives on the issues of haunting.

“I would go to a haunted place, its sexy”- Morton East teacher Mr. Beisman states.

When asked whether and where they would go to haunted spot, different point of views was given.

“I don’t know any places, but I’ve been in ghost spots during vacations” Morton East career guidance counselor Mr. Smith says.

Other teachers think that’s going to a haunted place is not necessary to get sacred

“life is scary enough, once you get to my age and start adulting we don’t need to figure out ways to scare ourselves”-Ms. G
