TikTok use at Morton East

Most Morton students use TikTok on the daily.

Since 2017, TikTok has spread out world wide, and  most people have it on their phones. Taking it upon ourselves, we distributed out surveys asking teachers and students if they use the app tiktok and how long they use it for. In a random survey of 44 Morton east students and teachers 33 reported that they use tiktok.  Most teachers said they use tiktok for at least one hour daily.  While most students said they use it throughout the whole day.

“One time I had a really bad day and I went to TikTok for comfort and it made my day it made me laugh and it showed me new things I didn’t know so I very much like TikTok for a good place to have fun and be your self ,” Morton East business Teacher Mrs, Tobin said.

“>A lot of people use TikTok some for hours and some people just use it for one to two hours a day but there are people who make a living out of TikTok A lot of people love to have TikTok for fun and laugh and cry on the app and it’s a good way to just forget what you are doing and just have fun .and learn new things about the world you didn’t even know there are so many facts about the world and you can even learn a new language TikTok is a good place to go if you have a bad day .

“Once I had a situation where I posted a video, and I had a lot of bad comments, and it made me feel really bad about myself,” Morton East student Alex Salgado said.

TIKTOK has a lot of great outcomes, as seen on the app there are a lot of people who have gained fame over it, even make that their full-time job. Besides all the good outcomes there are also bad ones. TIKTOK focuses on self-love and positivity, but it could also have bad outcomes for people struggling with mental issues or disorders. In some cases, small creators who are either teens or over age post a video for fun but always get malicious comments which later affect that individual. Staking is also a big issue that happens more commonly than you think.

”I really enjoy TikTok on the daily after a long day at work,” Morton East student Ryan Ruiz said.
