Recently, Morton East High School students were surveyed on their current relationship status — single or in a relationship — and the results were surprisingly split.

According to buzzfeed.com, About 26% of people around the world are single on Valentines day an 19% of people are in a relationship. One way to manage any negative feelings around Valentines Day is to schedule a get together with friends or have quality time with your parents. About 1 in 10 people are depressed or feel lonely on Valentines Day, our population generally has negative emotions on Valentines Day.

In a random survey of students being single or in a relationship at Morton East,  43 students said they were single, and  57 reported being in a relationship .

“It is hard nowadays to be in a serious relationship which is the reason I guess some people are single,” said senior Jazmin Gonzales.

This shows that some people prefer to stay single, but another student interviewed feels differently.

“I feel like it is not hard it is just whether or not the person you are with actually likes you and wants to be with you,” said Senior Raul Rodriguez.

This shows that Morton East students each have different reasoning on why someone may be single or in a relationship.
