Do Morton East students miss snow days?

According to a poll with 70 responses 48 Morton students said that they miss snow days even if we still have to make them up at the end of the school year. Usually, schools would close when the weather is harsh or if there is too much snow, but since this year we are doing remote learning because of a Coronavirus spreading around we have not had any snow days. Many schools have decided not to have snow days since we don’t have to go out and drive to the school in harsh weather conditions. Now that everyone knows how to use remote learning, schools will most likely not have snow days anymore and instead make students attend classes online.

“I would still want to have snow days even in remote learning because I can use it to catch up on work and I still have to go out and shovel the snow, and if it is snowing a lot I would be going out to shovel the snow often so it doesn’t pile up too much,” a participant in the poll said.

Some students like this poll participant want to still have snow days so they can shovel the snow and catch up on work but others also disagree with this.

“I mean there is no point in snow days anymore since we can just decide to have classes online,” a respondent in the poll said.

Students that do not want snow days have good reasons on why they don’t like not wanting to make up the days at the end of the school year, but many students want the day off during the bad weather.

“I think it’s worth rejuvenating during extreme weather conditions,” another poll participant said.

In conclusion, many students miss having snow days because they use the day to catch up on work and other chores that come up due to the weather.
