Alexander Pichardo

Senior Alexander Pichardo injured his leg while running cross country.

According to hopkinmedicine.org ‘Sports Injuries Statistics,’ he is one of the 3.5 million people who suffer leg injuries each year and is also among the 1.17 million people whose injuries are sports-related. He injured his leg while training for cross country over the summer near Patriots Park in North Riverside. This injury interrupted his participation in cross country, a sport he had been involved in since Unity Jr High up until the past summer. In a random survey of 10 Morton East students, 3 reported being involved in cross country.

“After that injury, I realized how much I truly enjoy running because of the adrenaline rush, and that’s what I miss the most,” said senior Alexander Pichardo.

Another student shares similar sentiments about those who experience sports injuries.

“I do feel sympathy for those who suffer sports injuries because it prevents them from enjoying the activity that brings them happiness,” senior Rebecca Cahue remarked.
