Can the White sox win it all this season?

Students are predicting the White Sox go all the way this year.

In a random survey of 10 Morton East students, 6 students predict that the White Sox will win the World Series this year.  Those same students said the White Sox had a shot at the World Series last year.  Unfortunately, they failed to win it.  This year with the new faces of AJ Pollock, Josh Harrison, Joe Kelly, Kendall Gravamen, and Vince Velasquez they hope to win it all.  Last year they were eliminated in postseason American League Division Series by the Astros in four games.  After losing the first two games of the ALDS, the White Sox avoided a sweep by winning the third game back in Chicago, but lost the fourth.

According to “https://urbanmatter.com/,“the White Sox are more than just a team; they are a big representation of the MLB and of Chicago.” But, few fans know that back in 1893, the White Sox were located in Sioux City, Iowa; they moved to Chicago in 1900.  They were also one of the first MLB teams to put players’ last names on their jerseys in 1960.  Interestingly, in 2008, the White Sox had the fourth highest payroll in Major League Baseball.  They have come a long way from being nicknamed the “White stockings.”

“I think the White Sox are going to win the World Series this year because they improved their squad,” senior Alex Saldivar said.

Sometimes teams can have all the talent, and still not make the World Series.

“What mostly messes up the teams in (the Series) is the coaching; last year that was the cause for the White Sox losses,” Senior Cristian Espinosa said.

Other students don’t quite know much about the sport of baseball, but they still have their own opinions on who will take the World Series.

“I don’t really know about baseball, but I believe the Red Sox will win this year,” one student guessed.  (And, yes, they got pretty close last year.)

Others are hoping to justify the Chicago loss with a big win from the Astros.

“Our pitching completely choked, Giolito,Lynn,Rodon,Cease, they all messed up in the game they couldn’t lose,” Senior Andrew Ramirez said.
