Most of Morton East is against animlal testing.
Over 115 million animals are used for lab research every year. Animal testing violates animal rights and causes pain to them. Animal abuse is cruel and inhumane. Also, animal testing does not reliably predict results in human beings. There are other alternative testing methods that exist to replace the need for animals. Ninety-four percent of drugs that pass animal tests fail in human clinical trials. In a random survey of animal testing at Morton East, 96 out of 100 students reported that animal testing is bad.
“I’m against animal testing in any type and form, especially experimenting things on them because we are just hurting them and that should stop,” said senior Edwin Flores.
“Animal abuse is really bad because it hurts living things that have feelings like us,” said senior Oscar Lucio.
“Odio la gente que lastima a seres vivos, especialmente a los animales que no se pueden defender,” said Maria Gonzales, senior.
“Hurting living things isn’t right. If it hurts you, why do it? It wouldn’t hurt them,” said Erika Gonzales.
“Yo digo que es malo lastimar a animales, que son inocentes y no pueden decir que no,” said senior Maria Gonzales.
On the other hand, sophomore Julian Rodriguez feels differently.
“I prefer them doing experiments on animals than humans, so it’s not bad doing them on animals,” said sophomore Julian Rodriguez.
