Ms. Therese Tanski is retiring

This year Therese Tanski is retiring from Morton East. Mrs.Tanski taught at East for 30 years. During that time, they taught English she was an English teacher. They also coached cheerleading for 1 year and was a NHS advisor for 3 years.

Question: How was your last year of teaching in a pandemic?

Answer: Here is my retired interviewee’s complete answer. It was not easy teaching during the pandemic. I didn’t like that this had to be my last year teaching but I was able to form relationships with the kids. It took longer also to do assignments and grade them overall not a fun time.

Q: What part do you miss the most about teaching?

A: Here is my retired interviewee’s complete answer. I am going to miss making connections with students and seeing if I can help them I miss that and all the relationships I made with the students.

Q: What are your retirement plans?

A: Here is my retired interviewee’s complete answer. I plan to do a lot of traveling also writing and want to make a book with my mother’s writings and mine. Also maybe even make a podcast and have a lake house in Michigan, which I want to spend time.

Q: Would you say during the years of teaching do you feel like you did your part as a teacher?

A: Here is my retired interviewee’s complete answer. I truly think I did my part and hopefully the students learned something. I cared about my job even sometimes too much. I was concerned that student learned and not did work just for a grade.

Q: Do you regret retiring at this time?

A: Here is my retired interviewee’s complete answer. Some part of me does regret because it was during the pandemic. I wish I could have retired when everything was normal to have some engagement with students. I think it’s time for other teachers to come  and teach and I think it’s time to move on.
