Regular clothes allowed next year — no uniform

The principal has approved for students to wear regular clothes for the upcoming year.

When your able to wear regular clothes, you don’t have to waste money on a uniform. People feel more comfortable wearing their own clothes, they could show their personality. Cicero schools are based on uniforms because back then between 2008-2010 they used to be a lot of gangs involved and to avoid problems or fights each student go to wear a uniform. Most schools in Cicero must wear a uniform. In Chicago, there are more schools without uniforms. In a random survey of 120 Morton East students, 60 students reported they would like to wear a uniform and the other 60 students rather wear regular clothes.

“Sometimes I would rather wear regular clothes than a uniform but then I think about it and it would be hard for me to choose an outfit every day for school so that’s why I’m fine with wearing a uniform. Plus, this is my last year of being in high school,” Erika Castro said.

When you wear regular clothes in school, people don’t recognize you because not every day they look at you with your style of clothes.

It’s a great idea to wear regular clothes because it’s smart to try new styles. In school people could recognize you by the style you like,” Shalein Sanchez said.

People get annoyed about wearing a uniform. That’s why sometimes people get in trouble in school because they’re not in uniform and that’s a problem for teachers and the staff from the school.

“Regular clothes because it expresses my style of clothes. And in a uniform, you feel like you’re being controlled. You just got to control yourself and actions because everybody is unique,” Juan Carlos Cardoso said.
