Jesus Zenteno is a senior at Morton East and a member of the Morton volleyball team.
Question: How long have you been playing volleyball?
A: I have been playing volleyball for five years now.
Q: Which position do you play?
A: I’m a setter.
Q: What inspired you to play volleyball?
A: I got inspired by the anime Haikyuu.
Q: How often do you practice?
A: I practice Monday through Saturday from 3:45–6:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8:00–11:00 a.m.
Q: How do you balance volleyball, academics, and your personal life?
A: After practice, I usually shower and eat, then do my homework and hobbies, and then go to sleep.
Q: What is the most challenging part of playing volleyball?
A: The most challenging part is pushing yourself and your teammates.
Q: What advice would you give to other athletes?
A: To become better versions of ourselves.
Q: What are your greatest accomplishments?
A: My greatest accomplishment is having the privilege to play volleyball with amazing teammates.
Q: What mistakes have you made, and what have you learned from them?
A: I’ve made plenty of mistakes, like not getting into my zone or making simple errors, but I’ve managed to pull through, overcome those mistakes, and become better.
Q: Can you tell me a memorable moment you had during volleyball?
A: A memorable moment was when we beat Willowbrook, because right before the game my teammate twisted his ankle.
Q: What skills do you think are the most important, and why?
A: The most important skill is ball control, because without it there’s no way to control the ball.
