In a random survey of 100 Morton East students, 31 selected Chinatown as their favorite field trip.
Chinese classes take a trip downtown to learn more about Chinese or Asian culture. Some even get a tour around Chinatown to dive deeper into the culture. Students have the opportunity to walk around and discover new places to eat, shop, or simply hang out.
“My Chinatown field trip was really fun. I was able to spend time with some friends from my Chinese class; we went to UNI UNI and bought some Boba tea. We also tried the Korean corn dogs, since we wanted to try them. We mostly bought food and other stuff like cute keychains for some family, it was a really fun field trip,” said senior Mia Mancilla.
Second place goes to the Sox game, with 14 journalism students who were able to enjoy a Sox game while also learning about the journalism profession. In third place, with 5 people, is a trip to downtown Chicago by Adventure Club, where they were able to explore and have fun. The remainder of the survey goes to the kids who haven’t had the opportunity to go on a field trip, with a total of 55 people not going on a field trip.
