Animals need care this winter season

The winter season can be a bad time for animals.

According to the article by AVMA called “Cold Weather Animal Safety”, the tips to keep their pets safe throughout the season is Winter wellness, know the limits, provide choices, stay inside, make some noise, check the paws, play dress up, wipe down, collar and chip, stay home, prevent poisoning, protect family, avoid ice, provide shelter, recognize problems, be prepared and feed well.

One teacher had an answer on keeping a pet safe during the winter season.
“Pets should be kept indoors during the winter season and other seasons (extreme heat in summer, rain in spring.) Keep walks short during extreme cold temperatures and only apply pet safe salt to sidewalks and streets.” SHARK club leader Ms. Berezniak said.

Another teacher says it differently.

“I can keep my two dogs safe by doing the following; Keep up with their shots, make sure they are properly fed, get them the exercise they need/require, make sure to use pet friendly de-icer salt in the winter and, show them plenty of love!” Resource teacher Mr. Asay said.

Now, a student had the answer to keep the pet safe during the winter season.

“You can keep your pet safe with a good home you provide for them,” student Julissa Rafael said.

Another student answers the same.

“I would provide food and shelter,” student Paola Mendez said.

Another student has a different answer.

“I can take care of him in the life.” Another Student Alberto Alvarez said.

Now, another teacher had an answer to keep the pet safe during the winter season.

“I do not put my dog outdoors for long, and I use pet-safe sidewalk salt,” Teacher Ms. Hade said.

Another teacher had the same answer as Ms. Hade but in a different response.

“Take pets outside for a short time at a time. Make sure they’re protected for cold dogs,” another Teacher Ms. Ramirez said.

One student had a different answer to a different question to help animals during the winter season.

“Yes I am willing to help other animals such as giving them food,” student Alondra Moreno said.

Now, a teacher had an answer to all three questions.

“I think we forget that dogs need to be kept warm during winter just like we do. They can get frostbite too. My dog Zac is a German shorthair, and his hair is short. Maybe he’s just spoiled, but he shivers when he’s outside. He actually appreciates it when I put a winter coat on him. He doesn’t like the boots — hates them in fact — but he whimpers and whines and refuses to move if sidewalk salt gets in his paw. So, boots are necessary. For those that don’t have boots, make sure to wipe any salt off your dog’s feet before they lick it off. That can be fatal to them. But, also, I think it’s a good idea to make sure your dog is getting a lot of exercise outside during the winter. I think a lot of people don’t walk their dogs as much because of the cold,” journalism etacher Mr. Kent Frankfother said.
