In a random poll of 50 Morton East students, six have reported going to a pumpkin patch this year.

“I went to the Siegel’s Cottonwood Pumpkin patch out by Lockport, IL. My opinion on it was that it was honestly just really fun. I really needed the distraction to get away from school, so my family of like 10 and I went and we just walked around, ate some food, bought some pumpkins, took hilarious pictures, and even fed baby goats. I know with the whole pandemic Halloween spirit was pretty diminished, but I’m glad I went to the pumpkin patch it was a much needed day,” said senior Adamaris Gonzalez Gonzalez.

Some students enjoyed spending quality time with their families.

“I went to All Seasons Apple Orchard and it was a lot of fun. (I enjoyed) the experience with family, we took some nice photos,” said senior Rafael Noa.

All Seasons Apple Orchard is located at 14510 IL-176, Woodstock, IL 60098. While some students spent time with their families, others enjoyed taking many pictures of their experiences.

“(I went to) Jack’s Pop Up and I liked it. I would recommend it if you are going to take pics because they have a bunch of props with different aesthetics” said senior Monica Castro.

Jack’s Pop Up is located at 1467 N Elston Ave, Chicago, IL 60642. Meanwhile, many students enjoyed doing a variety of different activities at the pumpkin patch.

“I went to Goebbert’s Pumpkin Patch and I loved it! It had animals there, and (a) corn maze, and many different things you could do, I would definitely recommend it,” said senior Samantha Soto.

On a side note, the Morton East Knowledge Center made its own version of a “pumpkin patch,”

According to information provided by library aide Dawn Cordero, the Knowledge Center hosted a Literary Pumpkin Contest where participants choose a character from their favorite book and bring them to life as a pumpkin. Submissions were due on October 29th. The 1st place winner of the contest will win a $50 gift card for Barnes and Noble.

There are many pumpkin patches in the area. Some are within the city limits, others are outside the state. Regardless of where they are located, they all have something that sets them apart from the rest. Each one provides a unique experience that you will never forget.
