Earbuds in: here are the top 5 pandemic songs of the year

Marcus Stevens, reporter

The pandemic is affecting everything days, so it’s no surprise that COVID and quarantine are being referenced by some of our favorite artists.

Here are the top five songs about the pandemic:

  1. “Level of Concern” by Twenty One Pilots
  2. “I Believe We Will Win” by Pit Bull
  3. “Quarantine Clean” by Gunna and Young Thug
  4. “Ice Cold” by Lil Tjay
  5. “Lockdown” by Mike Campbell

Over the pandemic a lot of rappers and artists dropped a lot of music while everyone was quarantined in with nothing to do.

“I could think of one song for sure that had a lot do with the pandemic. That song is Lil baby “Bigger than Black and White.” A few of my friends and family listened to the same song as well. I’m listening to (it) a lot over the pandemic because that song verbally says a lot; his lyrics are based on what’s going on during the pandemic,” senior Marcus Stevens said.

Another student agrees.

“Lil baby lost his cap on (Bigger than Black and White) – addressing all the problems in today’s society,” Morton East student Alissa Figueroa said.

I’m not gone lie; teachers said a few songs that I never heard of.

“I love that one “We’re All in this Together” from High School Musical, one teacher (who preferred to remain nameless) said.

Parents, too, have their favorites.

“Man, I’ve been listening to a lot of music during quarantine, but I have to say that (my favorite is) Rod Wave’s “Abandon” because he spit a whole lot of feelings in that song,” parent Marcus Stevens Sr. said.
