On Thursday, February 27, the Morton East Chodl Auditorium will come alive with an exciting blend of music, showcasing the talents of local students in a free, hour-long concert. (Set list is at the bottom.)
Starting at 7 p.m., this performance will feature an impressive lineup of musical groups from the Morton East, Morton Freshman, and Morton West campuses. There is no charge for admission. This concert is a great opportunity to experience a variety of musical genres performed by the district’s talented students. The Morton 201 Jazz Band will take the stage, highlighting the quality of jazz music. Morton East Mariachi will also perform.
“I’m very, very excited. I’m so proud of the students for all their hard work. I think people are in for a good show. Very excited, very happy, very proud,” teacher Mr. Cervantes said.
A lot of practice by the students has lead to their performance.
“Me siento nervioso de no cometer un error, pero estoy confiado porque el grupo de mariachi ha trabajado muy duro,” senior Osman Hernandez said.
Another student musican has similar feelings.
“I feel nervous and excited about this concert. My role in the concert is the violin. I’m very excited for this concert—we’ve been working so hard for it,” sophomore Mareli Reyes said.
