January 22, 2021
Bad Bunny’s album was the most popular album of last year among Morton East students.
In a random survey of 86 Morton East students/Cicero residents, 47 percent agreed that Bad Bunny’s album “YHLQMDLG” was the best album of 2020. According to Billboard.com, Bad Bunny’s album won “American Music Award for Favorite Album – Latin” against other popular nominees such as Anuel AA and Maluma on the week of March 5. Prior to this, Bad Bunny has won many other awards such as Urban Fusion/performance and Urban Music album. Currently, Bad Bunny is Cicero’s most popular artist.
“I’m obsessed with Bad Bunny. He is consistently on my playlist so I listen to him several times a day every day. At this point, everyone in my house is tired of me and my music,” said Jahayra Flores , Cicero Resident.
“After Hours” by The Weeknd came in second place with 20 percent of the votes.
The Weeknd released his fourth popular album on March 20, 2020. “After Hours” won “American Music Award for Favorite Album Soul/R&B” in 2020. Although, some may be a fan of The Weeknd and his work, others may strongly disagree.
“I feel like this was not The Weeknd’s best album. Do not get me wrong some songs we’re okay but I have heard better from him. This album also reminds me of a sad point in my life, which the songs on the album just make me reminisce those moments,” said Stephanie Garcia , Cicero Resident.
“Eternal Atake “by Lil Uzi Vert came in third place with 14 percent of the votes. Lil Uzi Vert released his album on March 6, 2020. His album took about two years to finish & was heard to be produced by other popular artist such as Chief Keef and Wheezy so many were excited for the release.
“Overall the album was a 5/10. It had a few bangers but nothing major,” said Dayanara Martinez , senior.
Chilombo by Jhené Aiko received the fewest votes. This album had 6 percent of the votes. Although it had the lowest votes, it still did get recognition by the Cicero community.
“This album is so soothing. Jhené Aiko is known for having a calm vibe with her music, which is personally my favorite kind of music. I feel like her album should definitely be one of 2020’s best album,” said Bryan Ocampo , Cicero resident.

Belmares, I enjoyed reading this article because music is something I enjoy a lot and I believe everyone does even if its different types. I agree with what this article says and the opinions of Bad Bunny’s album, I believe it deserved all it got, the music and songs are very lively and a lot of people can vibe and get used to that along with dance and sing and have fun with it. I too very much enjoy The Weeknd’s album but the tone and music was not as lively all songs had their own vibe in that album that many did enjoy but not all. I liked the opinions on this article because it shows that not all agree with such music and that is the reality everyone has their own artist that is their favorite and not all people will always agree.

BELMARES/ Personally I really like bad bunny songs. I’ve met a lot of people that listen to bad bunny so I would think that his music is very popular nowadays. I feel like every time he releases an album it becomes really popular because everyone likes the music sings. Many people liked songs in English but the people that liked songs in Spanish art from different artists like Bad Bunny and many more. I can also relate because I always listen to bad bunny more than once a day.

I really like this article, it was concise and straight to the point. It also had students’ thoughts/opinions for every album that was a part of the survey, which I admire as well.
