Halloween’s scariest moments: Mummies, monkeys and murderers that weren’t there

When we asked Morton East students what their scariest Halloween moments were, we were surprised at some of the answers we got.

“One time when I was in Berwyn me and my cousin got lost in Proksa Park and all these mummies started chasing me. At the time I was 7, and I really thought that I was gonna die,” Sebastian Salas, a Morton East student, said.

Many people recall some scary moments from their childhood days, but some have had some pretty scary experiences even in present times.

“I remember not too long ago in Riverside — it used to be pretty scary out there, and one time I stepped wrong and my foot fell into some sort of hole. I was pretty scared and confused when I felt someone grab my leg, but no one was there,” student Iraq Barragan said.

Some quotes seem like they are very hard to believe because they are borderline crazy! There are some who see things that may or may not really be there.  Sebastian Salas can relate.

“When I was trick or treating in Riverside with two of my cousins, I swear I saw a monkey-like figure run across the street.  It was late, and I heard it panting like a dog.  But, it climbed a tree quickly — I swear it was a lost monkey!” student Sebastian Salas said.
