For people who like to play competitively, there is a new sports club on the block for you — E-Sports.  

 The E-sports club is a club in the making. But some might ask, why have I not seen much or heard much about this club. Well, I have a few answers for you and much more involving this new club. First you should know this is still a new club and is still in the making. Progress is hard because it is hard to start an e-sports team like this from scratch. life happens to everyone and Mr. Elkins is tending to his family. He currently is navigating life with a newborn while also meeting remotely with the team so while life has slowed down the club it has not stopped it. Once he comes back, the club will play together in room 322 on Wednesdays, and I have no doubt the team will be stronger than ever. There are a lot of changes to keep up with in the gaming community since it is a gaming club. It tries to keep up with the most popular games, but the issue is games do not always stay popular for long. 

 “We are getting video game devices cleared on the Morton Wi-Fi. Right now, we have a few consoles cleared so that they can connect to Morton’s Wi-Fi during specific times. ” said Mr. Moore, subs-sponsor of the E-sports club. 

 This reveals that there are steps attempting to be taken in the background to get it all set up, but they need clarification to make them happen. And even with the clarification the set-up process is still a long one. 

 ”But the IT department must physically allow every switch, play station, and Xbox, otherwise the online feature of these devices will be blocked” Adds Mr. Moore 

 They are doing their best to get it already like finding the most entertaining games they can so they can make it as interesting to the students as they can. 

 “We are also developing a team, and a few games we think that students would be interested in playing. ” Mr. Moore stated again. 

 The e-sports club is making the necessary moves in the background so they can find out how to make the club as entertaining as possible and as accessible as they can. 

 ¨Additionally, we are setting up a computer lab that will allow students to play games online after school on certain days as well.¨ Mr. Moore said at last.
 The location and time are important as well since students are not always available, so they are working on this as well to make is as accessible to everyone they can. The club has not disappeared; you cannot see them now. 

 ¨Mr. Elkins is currently on Paternity leave at the moment, so the club has been meeting in a remote setting. The club is currently 5-1 in tournaments and #4 in the state rankings. ¨ said Mr. Depa, assistant principal. 

 Even with Mr. Elkins on leave the club has still been doing the best they can to make progress. With some patience you will see the great heights this club can soar to.
