February 1, 2021
“Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey” was the best movie of 2020 year among Morton East students.
According to The Verge, “Birds of Prey is DC’s first good action movie,” by Joshua Rivera, “Just about every big fight in the movie is choreographed and staged in the most interesting way possible.” Many critics gave praise to the movie’s amazing visuals in the fight scenes. Specifically, a scene with Harley Quinn herself taking over a police station with smoke bombs of vibrant blue and pinks, leaving the audience in awe. Currently, according to Rotten Tomatoes, “Birds of Prey” won itself a 78% on its site with higher than average reviews. It was certified fresh on their website with equal praise from both critics and audience alike. “Birds of Prey” shows a phenomenal female cast on the big screen filled with action and drama. Interestingly, “Birds of Prey” had a budget of 100 Million, it made a total of 201.8 million USD in the Box office. In a random survey of 106 Cicero residents, 30 participants picked “Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey” as the best movie of 2020.
“Harley Quinn Birds of Prey was a pretty good movie, it was action-packed and really funny. I think what really intrigued its viewers, however, was the fact that it was pure women power and it was greatly demonstrated,” Morton Senior Cecilia Monarrez said.
“WonderWoman 1984” came in a close second place, with 29 votes. “WonderWoman 1984” was filmed in multiple destinations, from the United States to Spain, including whales, England, and the Canary Islands. A notable location for filming was the very distinct retro mall that has been seen on the popular show “Stranger Things.”
“She was a badass woman, she ran an army and had choices to make but made them with everyone else in mind, she empowered women,” Fellow mother Cindy Raymundo said.
“Onward” came in third place with 21 votes. Although “Onward” came in third, it took 6 years to come to fruition. “Onward” was first brought up as an idea in 2013 but was introduced to the public in 2017 at the D23 Expo as an untitled Pixar film.
“Onward was a really good movie. It made me cry but I really like it” Burham 6th grader Jorge Ayala said.
“Hamilton” received the fewest votes, only obtaining 19. Although in last place, this is the first time you can watch lHamilton,” on the streaming service Disney+ besides the Broadway stage.
“I think it’s definitely a good movie because of its historic nature and given that it’s being adapted to today’s world and liking, I find it enjoyable,” Morton Senior Angel Luna said.

Belmares, This article was very well written, I enjoyed reading it because now I have movies to add to my list, thank you. I agree that “Birds of prey” was a very good movie although I wouldn’t say this particular movie was the best in all of 2020, the movie was very good and quite enjoyable to watch because of its comedy and fantastic visuals that really brought it to life. In haven’t watched the other movies but all sound very intriguing now.

[BELMARES]I loved birds of prey because Harley Quinn shows that she’s confident in herself and that she fears no one. She values herself! I saw it at my house and was in awe.

Harley Quinn is one of my favorite DC villains, so I really liked this movie as well! I liked that they brought out some new female characters, and my favorite was Huntress.
