Memories: Senior Year or More Like A Ludicrous Year
May 11, 2020
While Senior Year might have looked like a breeze that we could’ve flown right over it sure did bring upon many heads turns and questions but it did not have the most fairy tale ending. So let’s look back on some of the craziest events.
Flicker Light That Was Spooky. On October 31st, 2019, on a cold rainy morning the lights day started with the school lights flicker uncontrollably. We all thought it was intentional since it was Halloween, till we were made known that there was no prank on hand but an electrical problem that delayed school a couple of hours.
Lockdown That Had The City Panicked. On December 10, 2019, it seemed like any ordering half-day but it sure turned into panic and questions when over the intercom came upon at 10:30 a.m. the announcement said that the school was going into lockdown but everyone thought as it might be a drill until couple minutes later they made sure they knew this was no drill. At 1:45 p.m. Morton East was dismissed after no danger was found but the question is what happened?, While many false rumors spread during the lockdown of students it was determined no student was in danger by the Cicero Police Department after a student reported to have seen a student with what seemed an automatic weapon.
Skyward Hack. On February 23, 2020, All students were having issues logging into their skyward when it kept saying the password was incorrect but throughout the date, it was known that the issue was because teachers’ emails were being hacked and shared. So as a precaution for students not to be next they had everyone reset their passwords.
Senior fights that went on for a month. During the end of February and the beginning of March, we had fight’s almost every date for around 21 consecutive days. These fights were thought to be funny to students since it happened almost daily that they even started making memes about this but as we all know it’s not a rare occasion.
Gee Get Money, On February 12, 2020, we had an assembly with a special guest for Black History Month in the Morton East Auditorium. When a 2009 Morton East Graduate gave some powerful speech and showed us what not giving up on your dream could do.
