How many Morton East Students drive to school without a driver’s license?
February 10, 2020
Many Morton East students depend on driving themselves to and from school, but many of those students may not even have a driver’s license. According to surveys conducted at the school with 50 Morton East students, 50% drive to school while 32% reported not having a driver’s license but are driving to school.
While the school can’t do anything to enforce this, students run the risk of getting their driver’s license revoked or a nine-month waiting period before applying for a driver’s license if caught without a permit according to Cyberdriveillinois.com
Morton offers students Drivers Ed, but spots can be very limited and not budget-friendly for many students. Some teachers, like Mr. Castrogiovanni, agree that the number of students driving without licenses “would be a lot less if more students had Drivers Ed,”

“Genge” Statistics show people driving without a license is on a rise, most of which are younger than 20 years old. About half of all car accidents were caused by those with licenses. It is quite alarming that many students drive without licenses considering they are more likely to put themselves and others at risk of an accident.
