How many students went to the clinic in Morton East regarding pregnancy?
February 5, 2020
More than 100 Morton East high school teens visited the clinic regarding pregnancy, but only 50% got pregnant in the 2019-2020 school year.
According to the Morton East nurses, this year the rate has been bigger for juniors and sophomores compared to seniors; this means the daycare will be full.
Luckily, Morton East does offer a daycare to help those teen moms graduate. The clinic nurses at Morton East said this rate alarms them because the pregnancy rate goes up every year. That means if the rate continues to grow more, the rate of graduation might go down but thanks to the daycare teen moms can easily graduate high school and have their baby properly taken care of.

I really don’t like how it says more than a hundred clinic Visits and says around 50% were for pregnancy’s there are 3,462 students this year at Morton 2020 and the fact that the genders of the students are hidden is a bit weird considering minimum could be 50 leaving the maximum pretty high and not giving an exact number, I would do the math but the best i can say is maybe 50-150 pregnancies were possibly documented, but also considering the quarantine pregnancies could not have been documented it could have raised the percentage admittedly not by much but not all information is present, but with LGBTQ+ community involved it could also lower the amount of pregnancies which kind of makes sense (in my opinion) there would be different results based on past history of the school but maybe quarantine helped clean the name and statistics for Morton or maybe I am over thinking this and the wright information was given. but i do like how they acknowledge that the number rises per year and daycare will be available

Genge – i really like the idea of this school having a daycare because this year their has been more pregnancies, & girls will want the help of someone to take care of their child

Genge- After reading the article written by the Morton Pony Express, I have realize that Morton east daycare has been such a great support for any teen mom who decides to grow up not only physically but mentally for the own wealth of her, and the child. Morton support has seemed as such great support for those teen mom’s who need help with school, graduation, baby’s health, etc. having a clinic on the school helps a lot because now anyone basically anyone can rely on them when making a decision, makes me think that if i ever need something i know where to go to get the help i need and when i need it.

Genge- the rate of teen pregnancy increases every year could be the cause of a decrease in graduation. According to NCSL, only 40% of teen moms graduate from high school. I wonder what is causing the increase in teen pregnancy.

Genge: Personally, I really support that idea of my school having a daycare. There’s many females in this school who choose to have children, and that shouldn’t stop them from wanting to get their education and graduate. Also, knowing that girls in my school felt comfortable enough to confide in the school’s clinic make me feel more comfortable knowing that there is a place that students can rely on in emergencies. Studies show that around 40% of teen mothers finish high school, and less than 2% finish college by the time they’re 30.
