Out of the 100 student surveys, 57 percent of those surveys believe that Morton East is haunted.
Morton East High School in Cicero opened in 1894. The School is 125 years old as of today when it was established. Over the years, both students and staff have confirmed they have seen or heard something “peculiar”. A common story that people often hear is about the Morton East auditorium. They say a theater director died the night before his play was produced.
“I was in math last year; I believe it was a half-day or finals. The hallway got dark and we couldn’t see anything,” senior Isis Quiroz said.
Sometimes things like this happen to students, other times it happens to the teachers and staff. Many things like this happen rarely but other times it’s quite often.
“No! Morton east is not Haunted. I believe some stories are made up and we don’t have proof so why should we believe it?” Poly Vargas, a student’s sibling, said.
While this can be true, most people do believe in this type of stuff. Maybe it’s our imagination or other times it’s happening.
”Ponle que si pero solo para el que cree. A lo mejor y no hay nada,” Ameria Martinez, a student’s mom, said.
Everything is based on people’s beliefs. Some people believe they’re real and some people don’t.
“Yes. The school was made around the 1900’s and it’s an old school; there have been rumors that a kid drowned, so logically his spirit could still be haunting the school,” senior Amalia Fausto said.
There are more than a few people who have had something to say about this. Many students and staff have said that there was a pool in room 115 but a teen died so then they made it into a supervisory room.
“My first real encounter I’ve experienced was here in the auditorium when I was about 16 years old,” Modern History teacher Ms. Lopez said.
