Most students at Morton East have met a new friend in class already this school year.
According to Google’s AI Overview, a longitudinal study on high school students revealed that while the core structure of friendship networks remained stable, individual relationships within those networks often changed over time. Additionally, this indicates that students frequently form new friendships as they progress through school. According to Psychological Science, 40% of friendships were maintained in the following year. In a random survey of 100 Morton East students, 82% said they have met a new friend this school year already.
Teacher Ms. Erin Nash has met new friends this year.
“I am friends with the new math teacher, Ms. Sanchez,” said Ms. Nash.
Making new friends, even for teachers every year, makes the school year better. But, so many students make many more friends each year.
Sophomore Anthony Sanchez met a new friend this year.
“Fabian and I met on PS5, and we are in the same math class — and we have the same shoes,” said Anthony Sanchez.
Meeting new people through video games is a good way to connect because they have things in common that they like.
Junior Xavier Luciano met a new friend this year
“Antonio and I met in math class we sat next to each other and something we both do is play video games,” said Xavier Luciano.
