About half of Morton East students said Instagram was their favorite social media app.
In a random survey of 99 Morton East students, 46 said their favorite social media app was Instagram.
According to Google’s AI Overview, YouTube is the most frequently used social media app by teens, with TikTok in second. TikTok also has the most daily engagement, but Instagram is the most used app. Teens use each platform for different purposes; for example, YouTube is used for entertainment and education, TikTok is used for entertainment, and Instagram is used for visual storytelling and connecting with friends and family.
“I use Instagram the most because it is useful to get in contact and stay in touch with friends when I am not with them in person. I use it mostly when I am home, and it is also useful when I am bored to watch reels,” said student Catalina Cruz.
“Netflix is my favorite app because it makes me feel happy and excited. I use Netflix to watch movies with my siblings in my bedroom or the living room,” said senior Yovanni Ramirez.
“Instagram is my favorite app because I can watch my friends’ stories. I use Instagram daily, at home and at school,” said student Nataly Hernandez.
“My favorite app is TikTok because I can make streaks with my friends. I usually use TikTok in the middle of the day and at home,” said student Xitaly Valadez.
“I use YouTube the most because of the versatility of the app with the movies and videos. W hen I use YouTube, I am usually at home on my bed,” said senior Angel Ramirez.
Many students use different apps for different reasons, but almost half of Morton East students use Instagram the most out of any other app.
