At Morton East High School, security guards are here to keep everyone safe and make sure the school runs smoothly. But have you ever wondered what their lives are like, both at school and outside of it?
We did a survey of the security staff at Morton East to learn more about them and their opinions. Here’s what we found out.
Morton Alumni
A cool fact is that 16 out of the 20 security guards actually went to Morton East as students. Only 4 didn’t. For those who came back, it’s like they’re giving back to the place they grew up in.
Is Security a Hard Job?
Most security guards don’t think the job is too hard. Only 4 out of 20 said it’s hard, while 16 said it’s not. But when it comes to breaking up fights, almost all of them have had to do it. Nineteen out of 20 said they’ve stopped a fight before, while just one said they haven’t.
Who Fights More?
When asked who has worse fights, most of them agreed it’s the girls. Seventeen said girls’ fights are worse, while only three said boys’ fights are.
Jobs Outside of School
Some security guards also work another job. Eight out of 20 said they have a second job, but 12 said they just work at Morton.
Favorite Shift
When it comes to their work schedule, every single guard prefers the first shift. Not one of them likes the second shift.
The security team at Morton East does more than just keep order—they really care about the school and the students. Many of them have been in the same classrooms and hallways as the students today, which makes their job even more meaningful.
