A majority of Morton East High School students enjoy shopping at thrift stores, survey says.

In a student survey, 63 Morton students actually enjoy thrift stores; the other 41 moron students do not.

“A lot of people enjoy going to thrift stores because not only is it affordable, but you can find hidden gems. Jackets from the 90’s or maybe a style that used to be popular but now you use that style. I usually am very picky with clothes, but once I see something I like, I will take it. I’m usually looking for t-shirts or jackets. I have shopped at thrift stores in the past and actually have a couple of shirts that I still use,” said school social worker Luis Manuel Castanon.

Another teacher, Ms. Farrell, also visits thrift stores. She shops for t-shirts too.
“Yes, I do shop at thrift stores. Do thrift stores have fashion? I believe that thrift stores are very fashionable! I get most of what I wear daily at thrift stores. How do you find what you’re looking for at a thrift store? I always look at all of the thrift store sections, but my favorites are usually the pants and men’s t-shirt sections,” said English teacher Ms. Kenna Farrell.

Another teacher, Daniel Bluster, also points out that they both get their clothing from thrift stores because it’s fashionable.

“Yes, I shop at thrift stores sometimes but not often. I usually shop at thrift stores if I am shopping for a theme day at school, a party that has a theme, or maybe for Halloween. Yes, thrift stores do have fashion. I think vintage clothes are cool! I actually bought a t-shirt for a ’90s’ theme day at the start of the school year, and I still wear it! To find what I am looking for, I usually just take my time and go through everything! I’ll find the rack with my sizes and just go through them all and see what I like or what I don’t like. It takes a while, but it’s fun to do it with friends as an activity on the weekends or something, so I don’t mind the time,” said Daniel Bluster, Special Ed Teacher/Girls Cross Country and Track Coach.
