More than half of students surveyed say they have used artifical intelligence — namely Chatgpt — in the past year.
In a random survey of 100 Morton students 54 students say they have used AI/ChatGPT in the past, and 46 students say they do not use ChatGPT, but they use AI.
According to Google, AI-enabled devices are everywhere, the growth of AI startups accelerated 14-fold since 2000, Business leaders trust AI’s power in driving growth, The global AI market is booming. By 2030, artificial intelligence will add 15.7 trillion dollars to the world’s GDP, boosting it by 14 percent.
“I think AI is going to increase by doing more “stuff” in the future. Many basic repetitive tasks can be automated by robotics or AI (re-ordering groceries and prescription medications; controlling the HVAC system to be more efficient; turning on and off lights; etc.),” engineering teacher Mr. Brian Paychek said.
Another student thinks similarly.
“Yes, I think is necessary by using for homework or doing our stuff in class also the AI let us know how some of thinks work around the world or just making something in 3D because you want to see how this works and if really looks go,” senior Yadiel de Leon said.
Another student said.
“The AI works in everything that we use in the day like when you do homework at your home or school, and you are using it in work most of the time. The AI mostly do everything or find everything that cannot do by yourself, and this should be increasing around the world for helping all the people that they need to,” Yadiel de Leaon said.
Other students think differently.
“The artificial intelligence is essential but right now they start implementing new thinks around the world, I think the government should stop something,” senior Juan Campos said
Another student is scared of the consequences of AI.
“Artificial intelligence will take over people’s jobs, and many people will lose their jobs,” senior Leslie Torres said.
Regardless, AI is here to stay, and many think they need to find a way to work with it.
“I think that artificial intelligence (like Chatgpt) is definitely changing what and how we teach. Technology has been so integrated into our teaching and production, but now I’m having students handwrite essays in class, so I know they didn’t use Chatgpt to write it. After they’ve created a draft, I let them use Chatgpt to correct for grammar and punctuation,” English teacher Mr. Kent Frankfother said.

“I think that artificial intelligence is definitely changing what and how we teach. Technology has been so integrated into our teaching ” i agree with this because there are many teachers and students using chatgpt to create new ideas

I agree since chatgpt can help with small things you didn’t catch and with AI you can also change the way the words are written so it could be very useful.

chatgpt can be very useful mainly to check for small things you didn’t catch before and adding different writing writing styles also adds something new.

I agree, AI is becoming very famous in college and high school it will continue to grow as time goes on.

“Artificial intelligence will take over people’s jobs, and many people will lose their jobs”. I too share this fear that one day we won’t have jobs to go to, because of the AI rapidly growing.

I share similar fear to that of senior Leslie Torres. “Artificial intelligence will take over people’s jobs, and many people will lose their jobs”. I fear that the unemployment rate will go up. Jobs won’t be completely taken away but they are surely to be reduced.

AI in recent years has definitely changed the world and how school have and will gave to operate. I do not blame the students on the other hand for using AI as work at times does tend to become very difficult.

I similarly share the same fear that senior Leslie Torres has. “Artificial intelligence will take over people’s jobs, and many people will lose their jobs”. I fear AI will not take over the world per say but rather take over many jobs and increase levels of unemployment.

“In a random survey of 100 Morton students, 54 students say they have used AI/ChatGPT in the past” This is very concerning to me because I haven’t used AI and I wonder if anyone has thought that I, or any students in my class have used it for assignments I did.

“In a random survey of 100 Morton students 54 students say they have used AI/ChatGPT in the past, and 46 students say they do not use ChatGPT, but they use AI.” I am surprised how AI can be used differently, if they aren’t using AI/ChatGPT the students are still using AI in some other way. It just shows that no matter what AI will always be used in humanity.
