10 seniors = 10 plans after graduation
April 5, 2022
Since the school year is about to end, we decided to walk the halls and ask 10 seniors what their plans are after graduation. Here’s what they said:
“I’m trying to apply at Morton college for two years and then transferring to a university, and I’m going to major in photography,” said senior Jaime Figueroa.
“I think I’m going to move out of the state and wait a couple of years then go back to school,” said senior Oscar Alfaro.
“I’m going to a local college, and I’m thinking of doing welding,” said senior Emanuel Aguirre.
“I’m thinking of either focusing on becoming a vet tech or something involving helping animals,” said senior Jorge Herrera
“I’m going to UTI and either going to learn to be a mechanic technician or a diesel technician,” said senior Leo Reza
“I’m just going to focus on work and getting the essentials like a home or car,” said senior Andrey Vega.
“I’m going to apply at UIC, and I want to major in computer programing,” said senior Eric Vergara.
“I’m working on applying at Harvard, and I want to major in astrology,” said Emmanuel Plascencia senior.
“I’m not sure yet, but for now I’m thinking about applying at Morton College and try the HVAC program,” said senior Antonio Acosta.
“I think I’m gonna work with my dad for a year, then after that I really want to work on cars, and I’m thinking of going to UTI,” said senior Juan Bautista.

I personally like hearing and reading about other students opinions on their plans after high school. It’s nice to hear because students like me are somewhat unsure about what they will do after high school because being in a Mexican household it almost feels like an expectation to continue to study. Which is why I would agree with the fact that most seniors would have an idea for what they plan on for their future.

Its amazing that there’s students who have an idea of what they want to do after high school, and its good to know that there’s others people like me who don’t know what they truly want to study for. I’ve heard from many people how they have changed majors and how others are drowning in debt which makes me think if I should do more research into careers.

At least they have an idea. If you don’t have an idea on what you want to do after high school, that’s perfectly fine. Don’t let anyone force you do do something after high school. Just take you time and think about. Just don’t wait to long

Two things:
1. For Emmanuel: After research, I actually saw that indeed you can study astrology at Harvard. There’s a class called PredictionX that covers everything from Chinese bone burning to modern astrology. Go for it.
2. For Juan: Please take the time to research other certification/degree options for mechanics. UTI is a proprietary (for profit) schoool that charges outrageous tuition; there are more affordable options out there.

It is nice to see what students choose to do after high school. I personally feel like it is okay to not know what to do right away and take time off because you can always come back to school.
